May 7, 2023 Compassion ‘Jesus touched the Leper’

One significant act of compassion by Jesus was when he touched and healed a leper. This event is described in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke.

Our kids learnt many meaningful lessons through this story. In the ancient world, leprosy was a feared and highly stigmatized disease. Those who were afflicted with leprosy were considered unclean and were isolated from the  society.

Kids were deeply moved by knowing Jesus’ deep compassion for the suffering and marginalized people . In a society where lepers were shunned and avoided, Jesus showed his willingness to reach out and make physical contact with someone considered unclean. Secondly, by touching the leper, Jesus not only healed him physically but also restored his social and religious standing.

Key learnings:

Jesus’ act of touching the leper conveyed a message of love, acceptance, and divine authority.

It revealed Jesus as the embodiment of God’s compassion and power.

Jesus alone can transform lives and restore wholeness.

Have a blessed weekend!
